SHRM@QU is a local student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. We provide students from across the University with the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into the effective management of human capital in the field of Human Resource Management through affiliation with the New Haven Chapter, the CT State Council, and the national SHRM organization.

The objectives of this chapter include:

*Promoting the exchange of work-related experience of established business professionals with the theoretical academic perspectives of student and faculty members through open forums and information exchanges.

*Encouraging the acquisition, growth, and continuation of our respective careers in human resource management through expanded knowledge, camaraderie, respect, and mutual support among chapter members and through our affiliation with SHRM and our sponsoring chapter.

*Provide a pool of human resource management leaders for perpetuation of the chapter and of SHRM.

*Function as an important vehicle for promoting the field of human resource management to students.

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 Henning Seip, the founder of Candogram came to speak to the SHRM@QU members. Mr. Seip discussed his startup, Candogram, which is a job search site that helps matching resumes accurately with job profiles through a skills match profile and skills gap profile. Before Candogram, Mr. Seip was inundated with resumes- many of which didn’t tell him the information he needed to know to fill positions. His solution was the development of a successful entrepreneurial venture. Job searches can be customized through job requirements and skill matches in order to find the right fit in to a position for both the applicant and employer. He walked SHRM@QU members through how the website works for job seekers and for employers. He also outlined recommendations for formatting resumes to maximize fit and help you to stand out to resume algorithms.
Mr. Seip is always looking for job seekers (especially students) to use Candogram in order to pitch Candogram to employers and match job seekers with employers. He made it clear  how tricky it can be to find the appropriate candidate for an open position on both ends of the process. We would like to thank Mr. Henning Seip for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk with us about his experience and share his advice.
